The movie follows history of the famous fictional standing comedian Mannie Lewis who unites to millions of admirers, but it is difficult to connect to one person. Mannie very much tries to overcome the feeling of alienation and shyness and the difficult relations with his father, in search of love to resourceful Maria, romantic and good for feeling.
